I have heard Twitter described as standing in the middle of a huge traffic jam trying to hand out business cards! To the newbies out there, it does kind of seem like that. In order to increase your following numbers it becomes necessary to follow people that don't really fall into your exact category or niche. One secret that I have found to fine tune our promotions is the LIST function. As your following grows it becomes neccessary to separate followers into sub-groups. I have begun the process, creating automotive, classic cars, etc., but I see that I will eventually need to refine it even more. I have even created three separate accounts, @bradcatron , @autopartstom and @carpartscoupon so that my communications make more sense.
