Auto Design Efficiency

One of the "go to" terms I use while searching for blog topics is "concept car". The one I selected today is from a designer with Audi. I was struck by the fact it appears to either have no exterior visibility or is using some form of window tinting that appears white from the outside but is see-through from the inside.

It did get me to thinking though... with the coming technological advances that involve computer operated GPS driven vehicles, we will soon be seeing vehicles designed without the need for windows. After all, if you are not driving you only need to look outside from curiosity, and that can be accomplished with a camera system. Once the need for windows goes away the design template opens up dramatically. Going completely to function equals form, I can see that sometime in the future, Cubism may infect the industry. The cube form is very space efficient from the inside and would also allow for the most vehicles per square mile of highway if packed end to end... If it works for the Borg you have to think there might be something to it...
