Pinto for Sale... Cheap!!
The Ford Pinto was one of those cars that many of my friends drove "back in the day". To be honest, it was much like the GM small car offering in acceptability as a first car... that is until they started to explode. It is a shame that the few little changes that would have made the car safe were not made by Ford as soon as they realized it was an issue.
Remember when everyone who had any car knowledge would always look at the VIN number on a car to try to figure out which day and which plant a car was made in? There really was a HUGE difference in a Monday or Friday car versus the desired Wednesday car. A Wednesday Chevette, Pinto or Maverick was a fun little sporty, fun, economical vehicle. The Hangover Monday cars needed help getting up hills and had so many creaks and rattles that you almost couldn't hear the wind rushing through the gaps in the body panels and windows... If you have some time check out this article from Jalopnik about why the Pinto didn't ...
